Is Member RX insurance?
Member RX is not insurance, an online pharmacy or a reimbursement program. It is a patient advocacy program designed to assist patients with the procurement of prescription medications. Although Member RX can be used very successfully in conjunction with health insurance, it is important to remember that Member RX is a standalone service that can offer great value to patients in need. However, Member RX is not insurance and should not be considered a replacement for insurance of any kind.

Do you have medicare? If so, have you reached your coverage gap? Can Member RX help patients in this situation?
Medicare patients can use Member RX to assist with expenses that fall outside of their coverage limits. Most Medicare drug plans have what is referred to as a “coverage gap" or "donut hole”. This means that the Medicare patient has reached their limit for covered prescription medications. If that is the case, the patient will most likely have to pay full price for their prescription medications. A Member RX advocate can help patients in this situation by providing advocacy designed to prevent them from having to pay the full cost for their prescription medications.
Can a patient use Member RX if they don’t have health insurance?
Yes. Patients that do not have health insurance normally have no protection from the high cost of prescription medications and patient advocacy can certainly help someone in this particular situation.
How long does it take to receive medications?
The answer will vary based upon a patient’s particular needs. In many cases Member RX certified prescription advocates can provide assistance immediately. Applications for free medication, offered through manufacturer programs, usually have a determination period that can vary between 4 and 6 weeks.
Can a patient join Member RX if they already have health insurance?
Yes. If a patient has a health insurance policy in place that covers all of their prescription medications with little to no out of pocket expense, we would think that this particular patient is not in need of patient advocacy. However, many insurance policies do not offer coverage for prescription medications. If that is the case, Member RX can provide a valuable addition to a patient’s existing health insurance policy.
